TSY In House Training #828: Building a Robust Procurement Function
Training on the go.

In today’s highly competitive and compliance-driven business environment, procurement plays a far more strategic role than simply placing purchase orders and securing the lowest price. Weak supplier qualification, unclear pricing strategies, poor negotiation discipline, and uncontrolled internal communication with suppliers can expose organizations to quality risks, supply disruptions, cost overruns, and internal conflict. This 2-day intensive program is designed to build a strong foundation in modern procurement practices, with a sharp focus on supplier qualification, Approved Vendor Lists (AVL), supplier evaluation and revalidation, pricing strategies, spend control, and effective negotiation. The program helps participants move from transactional buying towards structured, data-driven, and professionally governed procurement. Participants will also be introduced to key commercial concepts such as spend analysis, maverick spending control, cost-based vs value-based pricing, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), cost avoidance vs cost savings, and the fundamentals of contract and tender management. The learning methodology is highly practical, combining short lectures with hands-on workshops, case discussions, group exercises, and negotiation role plays. This ensures that participants are not only exposed to concepts, but also gain the confidence to apply them immediately at work.
