TSY In House Training #671: Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping

TSY In House Training #671: Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping
Discussion ongoing.

Lean Manufacturing is simply about creating more value for customers by eliminating activities that are considered waste. Any activity or process that consumes resources, adds cost or time without creating value presents an opportunity for improvement. Understanding the Lean principles and the underlying efforts to remove waste, is critical for any successful Lean implementation. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a visualisation tool that helps us to model work processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Thus, it is also a strategic planning and change management tool for continuous improvement. VSM is often the starting point for Lean deployment to reveal the non-value-added activities (Waste) and identify improvement projects (Kaizen).
